If you upgrade to Windows 10, these partitions will remain as they are. They won't be deleted nor modified. And the recovery image stored on the Recovery partition will still be the one for.

I'm not quite sure what you're hoping to do. The recovery partition is what is used to do a factory reset to 'out of the box' state. No, it doesn't.The OEM recovery partition should have a drive letter, but if it's not there then it's been removed. This is a different entity from the Windows recovery partition, which should not have a drive letter.

Here are screen shots of Disk Management from my HP laptop and my partner's Toshiba laptop. Both are perfectly normal (though I have no idea how my machine ended up with two separate Windows Recovery partitions). The double display of D: is a mystery since it is clearly the same space.HP Disk Management Screen Shot:Toshiba Disk Management Screen Shot. No, it doesn't.The OEM recovery partition should have a drive letter, but if it's not there then it's been removed. In this scenario, who would you pay? This is my disk management. When I open EaseUS Partition Master, I can see it, however a drive letter hasn't been assigned to it. I would have to pay for a tool to assign a drive letter to recovery.I used the demo version knowing it was a demo version, at first. Half way through fixing it, I completely forgot it was a demo and proceeded on to fix it.

At the end of the process, it said something like, 'its been fixed only in memory. This is a demo version.' - smh.Edited by JAEGER, 21 July 2017 - 07:38 PM. Hi,Please post the brand and model of the machine. What was the original OS initially installed on the machine?

Usually there is a sticker on the machine that could contain or not the Windows key depending on the Windows version.Original OS was Windows 10 Home / Make: HP Pavilion 15-ab231na Notebook. OEM is WIN10 was installed.Indeed, the Windows recovery partition is not given a drive letter. Both of the examples I've shown started out life as Windows 8.1 machines, one of which (the HP) has an OEM recovery partition with a letter and the other of which (the Toshiba) does not. You'll notice that the Windows recovery partitions on each are not assigned drive letters and disk manager knows exactly what they are.^^This.I think we might be sorted here.
