Tab stops are a paragraph format. That means you can assign different tab stops for individual paragraphs. Fortunately, that doesn't mean you have to delete them all individually—or by the paragraph.

Adding a tab for your Word document templates is a process involving both Windows Explorer and Word. No registry tweaking is necessary. The operation's result isn't visible if you apply the fast method. I found that this issue is document-specific - not a global setting in Word that got unset and needs to be rechecked. I opened another, blank Word document. I hit the bullet button. Now, if you hit Tab you should see the bullet indent.
